What does problem severity mean?

Problems found during the inspections are marked with certain severity to provide easy distinction to prioritize for fixing them. The tables below describe what the severity means for electrical infrared and VUMO( Vibration, Ultrasound, Motor, and Oil) problems. 

SEVERITY	ELECTRICAL INFRARED PROBLEM SEVERITY
	Repair or shut down immediately. Inspect surrounding components for potential damage.
	Repair in the immediate future (1-3days). Inspect the surrounding components for possible damage.
	Repair as soon as is reasonable. Monitor for an increase in load. Inspect for possible physical damage.
	Repair as part of regular maintenance.
	Issues found during an infrared inspection of electrical equipment identified visually without the use of a thermal imager that would not be in compliance with a governing body or an agency's guidelines (NEC or OSHA).
	Issues found visually without the use of an instrument. These issues can be reliability issues but are not compliance-related.

PROBLEM SEVERITY	VIBRATION, OIL, ULTRASOUND & MOTOR CIRCUIT PROBLEM SEVERITY
	Repair or shut down immediately.
	Repair in the immediate future (1-2 weeks).
	Repair as soon as is reasonable (1-3 months).
	There has been an increase in the PdM trend. Continue to monitor and trend.
	Issues found during an infrared inspection of electrical equipment identified visually without the use of a thermal imager that would not be in compliance with a governing body or an agency's guidelines (NEC or OSHA).
	Issues found visually without the use of an instrument. These issues can be reliability issues but are not compliance-related.
