Does ViewPoint have an API?

Yes the ViewPoint API allows customers not only to get data from ViewPoint but to also update data in ViewPoint programmatically.

Getting Started

The ViewPoint API comes with robust online documentation that makes it very easy to get started and located at https://api.seamgroup.com/. The documentation includes instructions for working with the Problem Compliance, Problem Electrical, Problem Generic Thermal, Picture and Repair endpoints. These instructions include a listing of the operations that can be performed on each endpoint, sample requests and responses, explanations of the different ViewPoint objects and their properties, and explanations of the possible HTTP response codes that may result from these operations.

What can you do with the API?

You can now automatically close out Open Problems and Skipped Items in ViewPoint from your CMMS and vice versa. Our customers rely on ViewPoint as the source of truth for problem data from their inspections. Depending on your workflow the repair technicians actually fix the problem in the CMMS system leaving ViewPoint as a manual step to also go update. This increases the chances of a manual error or not having the data integrity in both tools. Now you can simply add an API call to your CMMS system that after the problem is marked as fixed, it will also automatically mark as a fix in ViewPoint. ViewPoint then becomes the analytical PdM source of truth for the business. This has saved our customers hours of manual entry and allowed accurate reporting for the next inspection. 

Another great use case for the API is to extract any data, this enables your IT team to develop specific reports for your business.
